 Don't confuse those with Duracell 'Pre Charged' batteries March 6, 2010

I can't believe it! Just when we thought we've got the Duracell battery color scheme figured out, those folks at Duracell pulled another cheap trick out of their collective... hat!
To recall, here is the color scheme for Duracell AA/AAA batteries:
- Duracell alkaline cell has the famous 'copper top' and a black bottom
- Traditional Duracell Rechargeable NiMH (DC2400) cell is green and black in color
- Newer Duracell Pre Charged NiMH cell has a 'copper top' and a green/black bottom
The latest batch of rechargeable AA/AAA NiMH cells from Duracell all have the 'copper top' and green/black bottom, similar to that for 'Pre Charged' version. However, those cells don't say 'Pre Charged' on them. Instead, they have their capacity printed (2650mAh for Duracell DC1500 AA, 1000mAh for Duracell DC2400B4N AAA). It is important to know that: those are NOT the low-self-discharge type like Sanyo Eneloop. They are traditional NiMH cells, which have higher capacity but suffer from rapid self-discharge problem. So even though their prices may look attractive, those are no bargains.
Remember: "If it doesn't say 'Pre Charged', put it back!"

Actual batteries are not exactly like the picture here, they are all green/black without the gold color at the + end. They are made in Japan. They last.

Once the batteries are charged they read at the very top of the meter on my battery tester.
That being said, they should last much longer in various low-power demanding devices like remotes for TV, audio, DVD players etc. In the past I hadn't used rechargeable batteries because of their short life span. I mistakenly thought that as time went by, "technology" would have addressed this shortcoming and improved their performance and longevity. I hate disposing of alkali batteries and hoped I would get more life out of these batteries between charges. I was wrong.

If you want to save money on batteries, and don't like dumping used alkaline units, these rechargeable batteries are just the ticket. They're perfect for battery-eating cd players, game boys and the like. The way my kids go through batteries, these Duracell rechargeable items are great money savers over the longer term. They keep the kids' batteries in full supply too. Everyone's happy.

These battery's kick A$$ they doubled the talk time on my handfree speaker phone so now even the most borring and long winded conference calls dont end up out lasting the battery of my landlines hands free cordless phones
